This work was commissioned in 2012 by the Michigan School Bands and Orchestras Association in memory of Bob Nagelkirk, a much loved and respected Band Director and trumpet player.

It celebrates the process of passing on musical skills from one generation to another, and was first performed by a Middle School Honors Band drawn from 20 different schools who met the music (and each other) for the first time one morning in November, 2012 and brought it to performance the same evening!
